Rocky Mountain Clothing Company Builds Resilient and Responsive Network With Extreme Networks

28th June, 2002

Extreme Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXTR), the leader in open converged networks, today announced that the Rocky Mountain Clothing Company has deployed its high performance network to enable its IT transformation.

With a rich history spanning 85 years, and having established itself as the world's second largest maker of western wear, Rocky Mountain Clothing Company had to meet new technology requirements for bandwidth and responsiveness as it delivers four distinctive clothing brands, Rockies(R), Cinch(R), Cruel Girl(R) and Southern Thread(R), to retailers nationwide and in select international markets.

Rocky Mountain began working with Extreme Networks as it embraced its vision for technology to play a central role in speeding its operations with uniform connectivity and improved performance. Extreme Networks was selected for its highly available, resilient and secure Ethernet switches, providing the high performance connectivity for its data center and call center operations.

With Extreme Networks award-winning BlackDiamond(R) 8800 and Summit(R) switches as the network foundation, Rocky Mountain Clothing Company has built a responsive infrastructure for voice and video and gained a much faster infrastructure for data applications.

Rocky Mountain supports more than 2,100 retailers as well as its manufacturing process from its central headquarters. It has now established a consistent network infrastructure with uniform Gigabit connectivity between its servers. Connections and speed to the database server dramatically increased as its database server, supporting all of the meaningful data of the company, reduced the time to pull information from more than 13 hours down to only 40 minutes. The highly redundant network also provides increased availability, Quality of Service and features that allow for low latency applications.

"The choice of Extreme Networks has truly paid off as we have established a highly reliable and future-proof network infrastructure," said John Seville, CIO for Rocky Mountain Clothing Company. "The dedicated support from Extreme Networks staff has been of great benefit and is a complement to its high performance network, one that allows us to easily expand based on our needs."

"Extreme Networks delivers scalable, high performance network solutions that have allowed the Rocky Mountain Clothing Company to expand and handle diverse computing requirements," said Suresh Gopalakrishnan, vice president of marketing for Extreme Networks. "Our ability to provide a network solution that meets today's needs as well as establishing a foundation for future communications convergence provides customers with superior value."
