Fashion For Peace: Fashion Designers Blaze the Runway For Peace

29th August, 2006

International fashion designers will rev up the excitement pre-New York Fashion Week, with a charity fashion event, Fashion For Peace, to benefit Bpeace, The Business Council for Peace, (http://www.Bpeace.org). Celebrating a strong message of Peace through creativity and industry, on Friday evening, September 1, 2006, the lush Garden of Ono at the Gansevoort Hotel, 18 9th Avenue, New York City, will host the runway presentations and trunk shows of four international luxury collections for men and women to benefit BPeace, working to support women and build communities in areas of global conflict.

Fashion For Peace is the first fashion show to be held at the Garden of Ono and will feature the creativity of ultra-luxury designers Patrick and Fabrice Tardieu of Bogosse, makers of fine mens shirts, Natasha Ulyanov for custom evening wear, KVG Luxury Lounge Wear by Natasha Ulyanov and Kelly Van Gogh and Pamela Boudreaux of Tullee Couture and Millinery for vintage-inspired designs.

The funds raised during Fashion For Peace will help Afghan, Rwandan and Iraqi businesswomen in the Bpeace program gain the training they need to expand their businesses. Believing that jobs translate to less violence, Bpeace, is a non-profit coalition of apolitical businesspeople who volunteer help women in conflict and post-conflict countries build sustainable businesses. Garden centers, beauty salons, textile and craft industries and construction and basic service businesses thrive and stand for the re-building of peace.

Guests of the event will enjoy champagne, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres from Ono restaurant and the fashion runway show beginning at 7 PM. Before and after the show, guests can personally meet with the designers, each in their "boutiques" in the cabanas lining the central garden, where their trunk show collections will be available for sale beginning at 8 PM until 9 PM. The fashion show will feature runway models provided by Model Management Group (http://www.nymmg.com). MMG is one of the most recognizable model and talent management companies worldwide with a roster of fashion, commercial print, and promotional models, actors, and recording artists. Expert make-up artist and eyebrow specialist Ramy Gafni (http://www.ramy.com) will be showcasing his work. Hair by KVG Prive and Bergdorf Goodman's John Barrett Salon. Jewelry for the Bogosse show is provided by Martin Schettini.

The fashion collections to be featured at Fashion For Peace are:

Bogosse. Spring 2007 for men is all about juicy color and globe-trotting lifestyles. Bogosse is a collection of trailblazing and elegant shirts, designed by brothers, Patrick, formally an international soccer star and Fabrice Tardieu, a former executive with Armani France. Bogosse designs for men who work and play hard and are always effortlessly and superbly styled. The shirts are collected by celebrities, including Usher, Ryan Seacrest, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Verdi, Nick Lachey, Owen Wilson, Joaquin Phoenix and men of style worldwide.

Bogosse styles such as "The Tunic Shirt", "The Back-Epaulette Shirt", and "The Watch Shirt" spice up the shirting possibilities for men from St. Tropez to Milan with the finest European fabrics, impeccable tailoring, unmistakable details such as square buttons, contrast stitching, and gorgeous collars and cuffs.

KVG Luxury Lounge Wear by Natasha Ulyanov. A New York Fashion Week exclusive launch, KVG Luxury Lounge Wear is the design collaboration of Natasha Ulyanov and Kelly Van Gogh. The collection of "Couture Sunning Suits" and accessories targets a niche category blending the glamour of evening wear with swim and resort wear. This collection is definitely "evening meets sunning" with a trendy sophisticated twist, allowing women vacationing to go effortlessly from the beach to a dressier luncheon. The limited edition designs feature hand-chosen semi precious stones, Swarvorski crystal embellishments and the brand's signature dragon icon.

Natasha Ulyanov. A stunning collection of evening-wear is Natasha's signature as a designer who approaches fashion with vivid creativity and the deft eye of a fine artist. Natasha is known to celebrate the female form with exciting color, dazzling embellishments and soft sophisticated silhouettes. Her ability to absorb a multi-cultural philosophy on beauty and sophistication has served to inform Natasha's oeuvre. Evident in her collection of evening wear are designs such as a gown of the most delicate touch rendered in peach silk charmeuse with a Swarovski crystal covered and fitted bodice, a gown of ivory and pale blue waves of chiffon or a cream silk satin empire waist gown with a jewel-encrusted bodice.

Tullee Couture & Millinery. Tullee's vision is to re-introduce the senses to the feel and superb look of vintage. It begins with the swish of petticoats, an exciting and unfamiliar sound, as a woman glides by in vast swinging skirts, a silhouette of the soft shoulder, the tight bodices, the wasp-waist, the tiny hats bound on by veils- all a take on the silhouette of the "Figure of Eight." Designs suggest dance, glamour and romance. Back are the dressing gowns, sweaters, gloves and veiled hats as worn by Hollywood Legends, making this collection from Pamela Boudreaux immensely chic.

Sponsors for the Fashion For Peace event include Charmer, providing liquor. Guest gift bags are sponsored by JD and Jill Dente through their Rok & Lola brand (http://www.shoprockandlola.com) with generous donations from Hummel, La Mer, and A.Cosimo of Nono Fashions .

About The Business Council for Peace (http://www.Bpeace.org)

Bpeace is a non-profit coalition of apolitical businesspeople who volunteer to help women in conflict and post-conflict countries build sustainable businesses. The strategy and logic is simple: more jobs mean less violence. Bpeace currently operates programs in Afghanistan, Rwanda and Iraq. Bpeace mentors 20 Rwandan businesswomen engaged in service businesses including garden centers and beauty salons, 20 Afghan businesswomen, engaged in textile/craft and in service businesses including consulting, market research, private education, and wellness/fitness, and 8 Iraqi businesswomen engaged in construction-related services including engineering; supply procurement and water testing. Businesswomen selected demonstrate high potential by already operating businesses (against all odds and sometimes cultural norms), being literate in their own language and demonstrating a real commitment to creating jobs for others in their country.

About Tullee Vintage Couture & Millinery by Pamela Boudreaux

At a young age this stylist had a love affair with vintage clothing, playing dress-up, wearing her older sisters 1950's crinoline prom dresses, cellulite slippers, elbow length evening gloves and tear drop rhinestone earrings. That love for fashion led to creating vintage clothing for her Barbies, whose figure was touted as "streamline" and thus she could wear the full bodices and vast skirts Pamela loved. After being recognized as an excellent seamstress and stylist, she began creating clothing for herself and a select clientele. Upon attending an estate sale at a Southern Plantation the idea of reintroducing Vintage Couture & Millinery for women seeking to dress distinctly feminine reemerged and Pamela's desire for seeing fine vintage apparel being worn and enjoyed, became her creative goal and passion.
